EVENTS Silverstone Autosport competed in the Tywford Rally on the 18th of April, our famous Rotary Escort was entered, being driven by Silverstone Autosport owner Steve Hopewell. Steve was having a fantastic run with Navigator Kev Allsopp in the seat, they were putting in some very good times and were on course to come in 3rd or 4th until a puncture lost them some time. When the puncture was sorted, Steve felt the balance of the car was not right and had developed a vibration in the car. With many more rallies in the pipeline in the coming weeks, Steve made the decision to retire and investigate the problem, just in case! The car is out again at Swynnerton this coming weekend, so the boys will be busy getting the car ready for another quick turnaround, watch this space for the next results!
We had a brilliant run at the Swynnerton Rally this weekend, our ever famous Rotary powered Escort, car 14 in the Rally, was flying through the stages and was 8th overall by stage 7! Unfortunatly a problem with the clutch meant an early retirement for Steve Hopewell and Navigator Mike Smith. Our Rover and Peugeot however, being driven by Simon our Rally Quest winner, car 49 in the rally and Emma our Lady Quest winner, car 31, went on to finish the 10 stages in brilliant fashion, Emma came 37th overall and Simon came 24th.
